H-Frame Hydraulic Press

An H-frame hydraulic press carries the force symmetrically through two uprights in a closed frame; seen from the front it traces the letter H. Because no gap is forced open, deflection stays small and die parallelism is preserved even at high tonnage — which is why it is the natural body of large presses.

Where is it preferred?

Deep drawing, large-bolster forming, transfer lines and dies with off-centre load ask for a closed frame. In ÖZKOÇ's range from 70 to 7,000 tonnes the high-tonnage presses belong to this family; the welded body is fabricated as a single piece with prepared weld bevels.

How it differs from the four-column design

In a four-column press the ram is guided on cylindrical corner columns; all four sides stay open, so feeding and die change are easy. The welded H body is stiffer and preferred at high tonnage. In ÖZKOÇ naming the closed welded body is the monoblock, the column-guided design the column-type (pin-guided); the choice follows part size, die access and automation.

C-frame or H-frame?

The short answer: if access and economy come first and tonnage is moderate, a C-frame; as tonnage, die size and tolerance grow, an H-frame. The full comparison is on the FAQ page, the naming in the press glossary.
