What determines the price of a hydraulic press?
A hydraulic press has no ready list price, because a press is sized to the part. What sets the price is not the machine's catalogue but what your part asks for: pressing force, bolster size and stroke, additional axes, heating, automation and safety equipment.
The main items that make up the price
- Pressing force (tonnage) — it grows the frame, the cylinder and the hydraulic power unit together; this is the single largest item in the price.
- Bolster size and stroke — a large die asks for a bigger frame and longer guides, independently of tonnage.
- Additional axes — a cushion (blank holder) and a bottom ejector mean a second hydraulic circuit; in deep drawing they are usually unavoidable.
- Heating — hot moulding work such as SMC/BMC, silicone, brake linings and melamine adds heated platens and temperature control.
- Automation and safety — feeding, robot interface, light curtain, two-hand control; these scale with the quantity and with the work-safety requirement.
Why does a "catalogue price" mislead?
Two presses of the same tonnage are entirely different machines once bolster size and equipment differ. Publishing an unverified catalogue figure would steer you either to a machine that costs far more than you need or to one that will not do your job. That is why we publish no figures; we speak in the terms of the glossary and give the numbers in the quotation.
What should you send to get a quotation?
The part drawing (or a photo of a sample), the material grade and thickness, the annual quantity and the cycle target, and the details of an existing die if there is one.
